The Children's Day Out program was developed at Memorial Baptist Church in 1988. As the name suggests, the program is aimed at children in our church and community.
The purpose of the Children’s Day Out program
is to provide care, education and development
of each child enrolled to his greatest potential
spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally
and socially. This is to be accomplished by providing
learning and developmental experiences consistent
with the Christian principles of Church at the Cross.
Enrollment is open to children age 5 months (as of 8/1) through 5 years old. Class 1C and up are required to attend two days. Infants have the option of attending one or two days based on availability.
C.D.O. operates every Tuesday and Thursday
Our school hours are 9:30am to 2:30pm
Extended Hours ~ 2:30pm to 4:30pm
Parent Orientation will be Sept. 4, 2008
Our first C.D.O. day will be Sept. 9, 2008
The last C.D.O. day will be May 19, 2009
We are very excited to offer “Stay & Play,” a new extended hour option from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. This is an extended playtime offered to children who are enrolled at MBC-CDO. Age appropriate activities for 6 months through pre-K will be offered and led by some of our very qualified staff. Ideas such as playtime rotating between our TREEHOUSE play center, our outdoor play park, an occasional movie, craft, snack, etc will extend your child’s day of fun while you take care of errands that you need to run.
We follow the GCISD calendar for holidays.
The will be no C.D.O. the week of Thanksgiving and the week of Spring Break. In addition we will not have C.D.O. on December 18th, the last Thursday before Christmas break, or Tuesday, January 20th, a school holiday for GCISD and CISD.

The teaching staff is dedicated to making C.D.O. Preschool a positive experience. The rooms are arranged into play-learning centers where children can make choices for individual and small group activities.
The C.D.O program uses the WeeLearn Curriculum, which is a developmentally based curriculum. An academic curriculum, which consists of various academic tools including Alpha Time and Frog Street Press, is added in the Four Year Old/Pre-K classes. Each 4’s/Pre-K class focuses on helping to prepare the children for a positive kindergarten experience.
Our goal is to build upon the developmental foundations of trust, independence and initiative so that each child will feel good about himself and his world.
What great fun! There are two special days each month. Some of our favorites are Drive-In Movie Day, Western Day, Pajama Day, and State Fair Day. We also have a special mother's tea and a graduation for our PreK students.
Children's Day Out also includes the following activities to enhance our curriculum:
Shot records are due no later than the first week
of school. We do ask that your child not attend
when they have had a fever, vomiting or diarrhea
in the previous
24 hour period.
We do require all children to have a rest time each day. We provide mats for each child and they are allowed to bring blankets and security items. We play quiet music while the children rest. They are not made to sleep, but must rest quietly.
